NC State Extension lists it as poisonous to humans (severity: low). Poisonous parts: fruits, leaves, roots, stems. Symptoms they list: “Ingestion can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, coma. Unripe fruits are much more toxic than fully ripe fruits. Cooking helps inactivate the cyanogenic glycoside.” They also note: “Cooked berries are edible and can be used in pies, pancakes, and jellies; flowers and fruits used in winemaking, marmalade, yogurt, and desserts.” NC State Extension
